School History

Institutional history and timeline of PM SHRI Sunpura High School.

Beginning of Institutional History

The institutional history of PM SHRI Sunpura High School dates back to 1958, with the establishment of Toribari L.P. School. The establishment and development of education in the area were supported by the commitment and efforts of members of the local community.

Development of Sunpura High School

As the need for education beyond the primary level grew, educational facilities in the locality gradually expanded. Sunpura M.E. School was subsequently established to provide upper-primary education.

Sunpura High School was established in 1968, providing education at the secondary level. The establishment of Sunpura High School was the result of the visionary efforts of committed social activists and educationists, namely:

  • Sri Mukta Ram Deori
  • Late Rangalal Goutam
  • Late Kharka Bahadur Gurung

Their initiative received spontaneous and wholehearted support from the people of Sunpura and neighbouring areas. Over time, the campus developed as an educational centre comprising Toribari L.P. School (Primary education), Sunpura M.E. School (Upper-primary education), and Sunpura High School (Secondary education).

2018 Amalgamation

In 2018, the Government of Assam amalgamated Toribari L.P. School, Sunpura M.E. School, and Sunpura High School into a single school under the name Sunpura High School, bringing primary, upper-primary, and secondary education under one institutional structure.
